Ce n\u2019est pas pour rien qu\u2019on avait attribu\u00e9 au groupe un genre inexistant r\u00e9pondant au nom de New Wave of American Heavy Metal.  Avec The Art of Balance, Shadows Fall avait plus de Thrash Metal dans les veines que de Metalcore et plusieurs se demandaient si le groupe de Boston ne finirait pas par devenir le prochain Anthrax ou voire le prochain Metallica.  Il n\u2019en fut rien en bout de ligne mais Shadows Fall a su tirer son \u00e9pingle du jeu en demeurant int\u00e8gre \u00e0 lui-m\u00eame, du moins jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la deuxi\u00e8me moiti\u00e9 des ann\u00e9es 2000.
